A Quote From Steve Blank That I Will Always Remember

I had the absolute honor of meeting Steve Blank at his ranch in Silicon Valley last week and was blown away to say the least. Steve is a serial entrepreneur who has been the founder and/or the part of 8 startups in the valley which he went through 4 IPO’s. Steve now has turned to become THE thought leader in entrepreneurship education because of his books “The four steps to the Epiphany” and “The Startup Owner’s Manual“. His methodologies are what has created the “Lean Startup Movement“.

We were there to discuss business but it turned out to be far more of an educational experience for myself due to the immense amount of knowledge and insight Steve has. One of the most memorable quotes he said to me was this:

“Disruption on the first day always looks like a toy…” – Steve Blank

What an amazing quote. At a time where we were brainstorming and I was cautiously thinking to myself, ” There is no way this is possible”, Steve smacks me in the face with that quote. Anything remarkable, innovative and disruptive starts off by looking foreign and foolish to the majority. Do not let the status quo discourage you from bringing new ideas to life. Do not let the status quo discourage you from thinking larger than life. Do not let the status quo discourage you from changing the world. Thank you Steve for the inspiration.
