Top US Startup Ecosystems by the AngelList Numbers. Bay Area Still Dominates

**[UPDATE] Found out from Naval that the SF numbers are included in the Silicon Valley numbers]**

Every startup ecosystem around the globe has been chasing the bay area in hopes to replicate their success locally in the startup world. Especially living in Seattle where the west coast rivalry is even hotter I have read numerous articles why Seattle is “So Awesome” but obviously these are always biased. After traveling to dozens of startup ecosystems all around the world and hearing a million different reasons why “we are the Silicon Valley of the [insert your region here]”, I was intrigued to actually find some data on actual activity. This led me to search through AngelList which has collected an incredible amount of seed stage data (AngelList is a platform in which startups and investors connect).

I took some of the U.S.’s top startup hubs and compared each city based off a few different things:

1. Number of startups

2. Number of Investors

3. Number of Jobs

AngelList doesn’t have all the data on each one of these cities but they definitely have a good amount that show some very telling and humbling numbers. Check out what I found below.

Like I said earlier this is all very basic research and I do understand that AngelList isn’t the one all tell all on startup ecosystems but I do believe this gives some perspective on how much many of even the top ecosystems need to do to catch up, if that’s what they desire.
